Online Adult Remedial Course

Costech Technologies, Inc., hereafter referred to as “Costech” or the “Course Provider”.



THE ONLINE ADULT REMEDIAL COURSE IS TAKEN FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
On the registration page, you will be required to select the reason for taking the course. If you are unsure which option applies to you, please contact the Ohio BMV to verify the correct reason. Completion Certificates will list the selected reason, and if a certificate is issued with an incorrect reason and must be reissued, a Replacement Certificate Fee ($10) will be charged.

COURT ORDERED – not for credit. You were court-ordered to take the remedial course and you will not receive a 2-point credit. Forward the certificate to the court.

JUVENILE SUSPENSION – You are 19 years old or older, but you are taking the course because of a juvenile suspension that occurred before the age of 18.

SUSPENSION FOR OVI/OVUAC – This course is being completed as a requirement for being eligible to retain or have your driver's license returned due to being under the age of 21 and operating a vehicle with a prohibited level of alcohol in the blood, breath, and urine, as provided in R.C. 4511.19 (b), or a substantially similar municipal ordinance.

2-POINT CREDIT – You hereby apply to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to credit two points on your driving record, in accordance with Section 4510.037(c). You are aware that you are not entitled to a two-point credit if, on this date, the total points assessed against your record is less than 2 points or more than 11 points.

12-POINT SUSPENSION – This course is being completed as a requirement for being eligible to retain or have your driver's license returned due to a twelve-point suspension, Section 4510.038(A).

It is your responsibility to verify with the appropriate organization if this approved Ohio Adult Remedial Course satisfies your needs and requirements. Should you enroll in the incorrect course, payments and refunds will be processed in accordance with the “PAYMENTS AND REFUND POLICIES” terms below.



TO BE ELIGIBLE TO ENROLL IN THE ONLINE ADULT REMEDIAL COURSE, YOU MUST:

- Be at least 18 years old,
- Have access to the Internet,
- Complete the online application form on the next page, and
- Pay the registration fee. This fee includes all required instructional material and needs to be paid before course activation.


COURSE TUITION

The registration fee for the course is $64.99, with an optional $5.95 fee for course narration (audio enhancement). This feature can be added or removed on the Registration Page during enrollment.

In the event a Student bundles this service with a physical driving school and remits payment directly to the driving school, the amount charged shall be determined exclusively by the driving school for its bundled package and shall be at the sole discretion of the driving school. The Course Provider has no control over, and assumes no responsibility or liability for, any amounts charged by the driving school for such bundled packages. The Student acknowledges and agrees that any disputes regarding fees, refunds, or services provided as part of such bundled packages are solely between the Student and the driving school, and hereby releases and holds harmless the Course Provider from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising from or relating to such transactions.


TIME REQUIREMENTS

- The course covers the State-mandated eight (8) hours of course content. 8 hours is the minimum course time requirement; however, there is no maximum.

- Per DPS regulation, all coursework work including the Final Exam, must be completed within 30 days from the first date of starting the first page of the Book/Course. If you do not complete the course within this allotted time frame, you will be required to start over, and a reinstatement fee will be applicable.

- The entirety of this course can be completed in one day; however, you can also take it at your own leisure, as long as you complete the course within 30 days after beginning.

4 different timers are built into this course:
  1. Login Time: Your login time is the total amount of time that you have been logged into your online course, regardless of the work completed.
  2. Course Time: Your course time is based on the amount of time that you actually spend in the course book, either reading the written information, watching the videos, or taking the Unit Tests. Your course time does not include being logged in; however, completing no coursework.
  3. Consecutive Time Limit: If you are logged in to your course for two (2) consecutive hours, the system will automatically log you out, and you will be required to take a ten (10) minute break. You may log back into your course after your break.
  4. Idle Time Setting – If there is 15 minutes of inactivity, the system will log you out. Idle time does not count toward your course time.


*A countdown timer on the Welcome Page displays the number of days remaining to complete the course. If the timer reaches zero, the course will be locked, and you will be required to restart from the beginning. A reinstatement fee of $32.50 will apply.


COURSE BREAKDOWN – THE COURSE IS COMPOSED OF:

  • 1 Overview
  • 6 Written Units
  • 29 Videos
  • 13 Animations
  • 6 Unit Tests
  • 1 Final Examination

TO BE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THE FINAL EXAMINATION, YOU MUST:
  • Read every page of the online textbook and complete all Units in order, starting with the Overview and then Unit 1 Page 01,
  • Achieve a minimum proficiency of 75% on all Unit Tests, and
  • Meet the minimum course time requirement of 8 hours.

GRADING AND FINAL EXAMINATION

  • The student agrees that they may not be certified or given credit for the Online Course unless they score 75% or higher on each Quiz/Test.
  • The Final Exam will consist of forty (40) randomly drawn questions.
  • You will have two (2) attempts to successfully pass the Final Exam. If you do not achieve the required 75% on your first attempt, the additional attempt is scheduled no earlier than the next calendar day. The system will not allow you to reattempt the Final Exam on the same day.
  • If you fail the second attempt, you will be required to retake the entire course and a reinstatement fee will be applicable.


COURSE COMPLETION AND CERTIFICATION POLICY

The Course Provider is prohibited from issuing a certificate of completion if the student has not met all the requirements for course completion, and a student shall not accept a certificate under such circumstances. The Completion Certificate is sent by email once all of the requirements have been met:

  • 8-hour minimum course time, and
  • You have successfully completed the course in its entirety:
    • All Units,
    • All Unit Tests, and
    • The Final Exam

Completion Certificates are verified and issued by a person – they are not automated. Our instructor will issue the Completion Certificate within 3 business days (Monday to Friday) after course completion. If you have not received your certificate within 3 business days, check your Spam/Junk Mail. If not found, contact support@costech.com to request another be sent. Please add the student’s name in the email subject line.

*Before the Completion Certificate is issued, you will also receive a separate email from us, notifying you that you have met the course requirements and that the course is now completed.


EXPEDITED COMPLETION CERTIFICATE

If you need your Completion Certificate issued before 3 business days:

  • A $25 fee will be applicable.
  • Send an email to support@costech.com
  • Please add the following information in your Email Subject Line: Ohio Expedited Remedial Completion Certificate Request, Student Name and/or Student ID.

DUPLICATE/REPLACEMENT CERTIFICATES

The student is responsible for ensuring that all registration and profile information matches the name and details on their Driver’s License or Learner’s Permit. If incorrect information is provided by the student and a certificate is issued with that incorrect information, a $10 duplicate certificate fee will apply to create a corrected certificate. If a Completion Certificate is issued but the student does not receive it, the student has 10 days from the completion date to request that it be resent. After 10 days, a $10 fee will apply. If a fee is required, a secure payment link will be sent by email, and the request will be processed once payment is received. To verify or update student information, or to request a corrected or duplicate certificate, email support@costech.com and include the student’s name in the subject line.


PAYMENT AND REFUND POLICY

  • Course payments are made to Costech Technologies or Costech USA, and receipts will appear under one of these names.
  • Payments can only be made by Credit Card, not Debit Card.
  • Once payment is received, the Student will be notified via email.
  • Students may request a refund within 7 days of registration. A full refund minus a $10 administrative fee will be issued for timely cancellations.
  • The Course Provider may terminate enrollment or charge a reinstatement fee if the course is not completed within 30 days or if any policy violations occur.
  • All registration fees are fully refundable if the course is discontinued by the Course Provider, preventing a student from completing the course, or the enrollment of the student was procured as a result of any misrepresentation in advertising, promotional materials, or representation made by the owner or employee(s) of the Course Provider.
In the event a Student remits payment directly to the driving school, any requests for refunds must be directed to that driving school. The driving school’s refund policies are determined solely at its discretion, and the Course Provider has no control over, and assumes no responsibility or liability for, such policies or any related transactions.


CIRCUMVENTION WARNING

The student agrees to personally complete all Units, Tests, and the Final Exam. Any attempt to cheat, provide false information, or allow another person to complete the course is illegal. If Costech determines that a student has misrepresented themselves or cheated, the course will be terminated without a refund, and legal action may be pursued against the student.


COURSE ACCESS AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

The course is available to students 24/7, but access may be affected by factors such as internet service, computer performance, firewall settings, or browser configuration, which are outside the Course Provider’s control. Customer and Technical Support are available to assist with troubleshooting.

To complete the course, students must meet the minimum hardware and software requirements:

  • Use Google Chrome for the best experience
  • A computer with a mouse/pointing device and speakers
  • Hardware capable of supporting the course software

REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES

The student confirms that all registration and user information provided is true and accurate, and understands that this accuracy is required for enrollment. Any willful or intentional misrepresentation constitutes a breach of this agreement and may result in the student being held liable for any damages incurred by the Course Provider, including general, consequential, or punitive damages.


LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The student acknowledges that the liability of the Course Provider, its agents, and employees for any act, omission, or negligence is limited to the amount of the registration fee paid by the student. The student also understands and authorizes the Course Provider to access public databases solely for student identity validation purposes. This information will be used exclusively for verification.


PRIVACY STATEMENT AND SECURITY

The Course Provider collects certain information from students throughout the website and online course. This information is used only for course administration and student verification and will never be sold or used to promote unrelated products or services.

All personal information is encrypted and accessible only to authorized administrators or instructors for purposes such as updating student records, reviewing progress, and issuing Completion Certificates.

In accordance with DPS regulations, the Course Provider will access one or more public databases to extract necessary information through a third-party identification system to verify student identity. The student authorizes the Course Provider to access this information under the condition that it be used exclusively for student validation. Information entered during registration must be accurate and truthful.

If the identity cannot be verified immediately, contact support@costech.com. Once verified, course access will be granted.

During online registration, students must select and answer three Security Questions. Write down your questions and answers, as they are required each time you log in.

You will have 60 seconds to answer your Security Question correctly. If you do not answer the question correctly the first time, you will have one additional opportunity to answer the security question. If the second question is answered incorrectly, you will be locked out of the course for 24 hours. After 24 hours, your account will be automatically unlocked. To request an earlier unlock, email support@costech.com. Please add the student name or Student ID in the email subject line.

If an online registration is completed without payment, the unpaid account will remain in the system for 30 days. After 30 days, the account will be deleted, and the student will need to re-register to access the course.

If an online registration is completed with payment but the student does not log in or access the course for 60 days, the account will be deactivated (not deleted). An email notification will be sent to the student, and the account can only be reactivated by contacting Costech.



TERMS & CONDITIONS ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND BINDING AGREEMENT

I understand that all communication with the Course Provider’s Administrator(s), Instructor(s), and support personnel must remain respectful and free of abusive or offensive language. Any use of such language may result in suspension or removal from the course without a certificate of completion or refund. I also understand that I, and no one else, must complete all coursework honestly. Any willful misrepresentation or cheating will result in immediate removal from the course without a certificate of completion or refund. 

In the section below, please type the full legal name of the student in the appropriate textbox. Typing your name serves as a legal and binding signature acknowledging that you have read, understood, and agreed to all Terms & Conditions listed above.

Once signed, this agreement constitutes the entire contract between the Course Provider and the student. Any verbal assurances or promises not contained in this agreement are not binding on either party.
